In the first half of FY26, the State-owned miner and India’s largest iron ore producer clocked more than 27% increase in output, 12% higher sales.
State-owned National Mineral Development Corporation (NDMC) reported iron ore production for September increased more than 23% at 3.75 million tonne from 3.04 MT a year earlier. Sales of the key raw material for steel were 9.60% higher at 3.88 MT (3.54 MT).
For the six months ended September, production stood at 22.20 MT, an increase of 27% compared to the 17.47 MT in the same period of previous fiscal. Sales rose 12.37% to 22.25 MT (19.80 MT), numbers shared by NMDC, which is India’s largest iron ore producer, in a filing on October 1 (Wednesday) showed.
Barring June when the sales were comparatively lower, the company has reported year on year increase in iron ore production and sales since April.
Eyeing record 55 MT production
NMDC is pursuing a record 55 MT iron ore production in current fiscal. In 2024-25, it had reported 44.04 MT production, while in the previous fiscal touched a record 45.2 MT.
