The company is preparing to launch a new product and has completed extensive renovations
Next week, the Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMP), part of the DCH Steel group, will launch a production campaign in rolling mill No. 2 (RM-2). The company plans to produce 6,300 tons of rolled steel, including channels of various sizes in accordance with European standards and DSTU, according to the DCH corporate newspaper.
During preparations for the launch, a large-scale repair work was carried out in the shop. In heating furnace No. 2, the refractory lining of the hearth, the lining of the cover, the burner blocks, and the framing of the walking beams were partially replaced. The furnace bumpers and the separate roller table stop were repaired, and the spindle bearings of the No. 7 cage drive were completely renovated.
“We repaired the roughing and finishing mill rollers, repaired the scrapers at posts No. 10 and No. 17, and overhauled the bridge cranes. In particular, we replaced the wheels on four cranes and restored the grabber,” said Andriy Bochanov, deputy head of PC-2 for equipment.
A mechanical testing laboratory is being set up in the new workshop premises. The power supply and heating systems have already been installed, and the machines for preparing samples have been assembled and successfully tested. The experimental equipment will be delivered here by the end of the year.
In addition, in 2025, the overhaul of the roof of mill 550 continued, with approximately 500 square meters of roofing above machine room No. 5 replaced.
As part of the new campaign, the plant plans to master the production of 60 mm diameter circles from 200×200 mm cast billets, which is an atypical type of rolled product that is in demand on the market.
“We intend to conduct trial rolling, evaluate the passage of billets, and prepare production for serial release,” said Maxim Veshchev, deputy head of the shop.
As a reminder, in August of this year, during the rolling campaign in rolling shop No. 2 of the DMZ, 7.9 thousand tons of steel products were produced. A standard range of channels from No. 10 to No. 30 was manufactured, and the first order for mine props this year was fulfilled – 2.2 thousand tons of SVP-27 and 200 tons of SVP-22.
