Indian Metals Casting Industry : Opportunities & Challenges Ahead
The Metal Casting Industry follows the process of pouring molten metal ("hot metal"
in industry parlance) into casts (or molds), which takes a definite enduring shape
post cooling. The industrial process being generally exercised in this industry
is Continuous Industrial Metal Casting process.

NALCO gets Odisha govt's approval for smelter unit
Aluminium major National Aluminium Company (NALCO) has got the approval of Odisha's
High Level Clearance Authority to establish 0.5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) aluminium
smelter and 1,260 MW Captive Power Plant (CPP) at a cost of Rs. 16345.89 crore.

RHI India, Abul Khair Steel ink contract
RHI India has inked an initial contract with M/s. Abul Khair Group, who incidentally
is one of the largest business groups based in Bangladesh having interest in steel,
cement, consumer goods and with a group turnover of USD 500 million.

Copper consumption slows down
The downward trend in various key sectors such as construction, power and industrial
machinery, has hit copper consumption. However, the trend is expected to remain
same for this calendar year.

NALCO pays Final Dividend
National Aluminum Company Limited (NALCO), the Navratna PSU under the Ministry of
Mines, Govt. of India, has declared a total dividend amount of Rs. 257.72 crore
for the financial year 2011-12, which includes the Govt. of India's share of Rs.
224.60 crore.

SAIL's BSP wins PM's trophy for 10th time
Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), the flagship unit of Steel Authority of IndiaLtd. (SAIL)
won the Prime Minister's Trophy for emerging as the best performing steel plant
in the country at New Delhi.

Hydro Aluminium Slim S.p.A., Italy, renewed the service contract with SMS Siemag
on the electrics and automation equipment of its cold rolling mill by another two
years.

Novelis orders scrap melting furnace with low metal loss and reduced energy consumption
For a new casting line, Novelis Italia S.p.A., Pieve, Italy, has placed an order
with Hertwich Engineering, Austria, for the supply and installation of an Ecomelt
scrap melting furnace of the Ecomelt PS-80 type with preheat shaft.
