AMC® – Advanced Mould Coatings
Copper materials have a relatively low hardness and thus low resistance to abrasive
wear. For this reason, a high degree of wear can occur in the lower part of the
mould where the strand shell causes increased levels of stress. To improve the service
life of moulds, KME has developed advanced mould coatings.

COMPANY NEWS
Furnace Technology
We founded our new Furnace Technology Division in 2011. The reason behind the move
is our plan to increase our competence in the thermal processing of flat products.
This involves expanding our global know-how in equipment for heating and cooling
steel and non-ferrous metals. Following the collapse in demand in 2009 and 2010,
the first signs of recovery emerged in 2011. By developing new products, we aim
to increase our share of the market volume in 2012.
ELEXIS AG
The elexis group with its subsidiaries is the technology leader in production automation,

Amorphous Liquid Metal Coatings Technology
This paper describes a new technology of amorphous alloys that provides solutions
for very high temperature wear and scaling erossional problems, over the conventional
Hi Nickel alloys and heat resistant castings, high temperature, steel mill rolls
etc. The first stage is amorphous powder mixed with Zirconium Titanium induced into
chrome matrix using is a rapid quenching furnace creating the atomised powder to
break into micro particles of 1-3 microns by creating a very high kinetic energy.

REFRACTORY
Andalusite Applied to Refractory Castable
Andalusite has a higher refractoriness under load, a higher thermal shock resistance
and a higher resistance to creep than other silico-alumina materials such as bauxite,
chamotte etc. Andalusite is perfectly compatible with other silica-alumina materials,
alumina materials and SiC materials. As main and/or secondary components, andalusite
is largely used in refractory castable.
