Steel firms to hike prices by Rs.1,500 / tonne
On the back of rising coking coal and iron ore prices, the steel firms are set to hike prices by Rs. 1,500 - 2,000 per tonne.

SAIL: November output up 8 pct
Stell production from plants of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) marked a growth of 8 per cent during November 2012 as compared to corresponding period last year (CPLY) with saleable steel production at 9.72 lakh tonnes.

  Acciaierie di Calvisano, belonging to the Feralpi Group of Italy, commissioned Siemens Metals Technologies with the modernisation of the billet caster in the Calvisano works in Italy.

• Forjasul orders EloForge induuction heating system from SMS Elotherm

  Forjasul Canoas from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, has placed an order with SMS Elotherm for the supply of an EloForge induction heating system.

• Formosa Heavy Industries orders continuous casting lines from Siemens

  Siemens Metals Technologies recieved an order from the Taiwanese steelmaking company Formosa heavy Industries Co. to supply four continuous casting lines as part of the new construction of a steelmaking plant in Vung Ang, Vietnam.

• Bayi Iron & Steel uses Corex plants to enhance output capacity

  Bayi Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., a steelmaker belonging to the Chienese Baosteel Group, plans to more than double its current steel production capacity of seven million tonnes per annum in the north western province of Xinjiang by 2015.

• CCR Technologies to supply 2-strand billet caster to Gerdau

  Ontario, Canada-based CCR Technologies Inc., a global equipment supplier to steelmakers, has been awarded the complete turnkey supply of a "2-Strand Billet Caster" to Gerdau Corsa in Mexico.

• SMS Concast and SMS Meer to build Greenfield minimill

  SIMEC Group from Apizaco, Mexico, has placed an order with SMS Concast, Switzerland, and SMS Meer, Germany, for a minimill.

  With 961 exhibitors from 51 countries, and 21,300 visitors, the world's largest trade fair for the aluminium industry underlined its position as one of the most successful industrial fairs.

• Outotec's new Services sales target and financial guidance for 2013

  Outotec's Board of Directors has set a new Services sales target for the company. Outotec's goal is to grow services sales to the annual level of EUR 1 billion by the end of 2017.

• SMS Siemag to modernise Hot Strip Mill No.1 at Baosteel

  Baoshan Iron & Steel (Baosteel) has awarded SMS Siemag, Germany, a contract for the modernisation of its Hot Strip Mill No. 1 in Shanghai, China.

• SMS Meer recieves fifth order for PQF seamless tube mill from TPCO

  TPCO America Corporation from Corpus Christi, Texas, U.S.A., has placed an order with SMS Meer, Germany, for the supply of a new tube mill with PQF rolling technology.
